Today marks 75 years of India’s independence. While the period is remembered for the bloody partition separating what is today Pakistan from India, stories of inter-ethnic and inter-religious solidarity and support abound. Including the harrowing story of Naseem Mirza Changezi, a Muslim independence fighter who gave sanctuary to Bhagat Singh, a renowned Sikh revolutionary who throughout the 1930s would help to shape the movement that eventually won India’s independence.
